Those of us who suffer from acne know it’s a never-ending fight. One day you wake up and all is well and another day all hell has broken loose. A few years ago, I did a post about my adult acne entitled “My war with adult acne” and it outlined how my battle began and what I had to do to remedy the situation. Fast forward a few years and I have learned a lot about skincare. I’ve tried a few things, some failed big time while others worked, and I wanted to share this with you.
Skincare is very personal. Everyone is different and our skin will react differently to various products. I won’t promise you that what has worked for me will work for you or that what didn’t work for me won’t work for you. All I can say is if the ingredients sound like what you need and the cost is in your range, give it a try.
When I first started my acne regime, it looked something like this:
· Morning – Cleanser, Clinex solution, and collagen moisturizer with SPF
· Evening – Cleanser, facial scrub (once per week), astringent, retinol (3 times per week), mulberry cream (twice per week), glycolic lotion (twice weekly when the mulberry cream isn’t used) and anti-wrinkle moisturizer.
For me, this was a lot of products and instructions. I hated doing it and having to keep track of when to use what, so you can imagine how ecstatic I was when it started to work. At least all that hard work was paying off!
As my skin got progressively better, I still hated the many products and steps involved so I (with permission from my dermatologist, of course) started looking into products that had the ingredients I needed so that I could cut down on the products and process. Today, my regime looks like this:
What other products have served me well, you ask? Here are some other good options.
So, what’s the secret to acne-free skin? The right products for your skin, persistence, and determination! Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products and what your experience was. If there’s any that you’re curious about, let me know and I’ll tell you what my experience was.
