So I woke up this morning and it's freezing outside. Ohio doesn't have snow, but everything is frosted over. The only thing I really want to do today is lay around in my pajamas, watch TV, occasionally read my book and write in my planner to plan for next week. Stepping outside into the ice box I'm sure it is does not sound appealing at all.
Can you say winter blues? I don't want to do anything and that is terrible! My plan was to go to the gym to kill a workout, walk my dog and then come home to relax by reading and scrapbooking, but this cold weather is killing my vibe. I definitely have the winter blues today, and after I write this blog post I'm going to snap out of it. (My dog is counting on me lol).
It's so important for your health to not slip into a routine where you wake up and not want to do anything because there is snow on the ground or subzero temperatures outside. This is what I call the winter blues and for the rest of the season make it your goal to avoid them! Constantly staying inside with no movement or exercise can lead to depression, weight gain and sickness. So to keep yourself in tip top shape get outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, but make sure you're bundled up. Also, don't skip your regular gym routine. Getting in a good sweat session a few times a week really helps with getting unwanted toxins out of your body, and keeps you feeling strong and healthy. Trust me, the hardest part will be getting yourself to the gym. Once you're there, you're good. If you're at home trying to decide whether or not you want to work out today, put on your gym clothes...and let your instincts do the rest.
Meal planning is also such an important thing to do at this time of year. It's so easy to just order in or pick something up on the way home, but often times this will cause you to overeat and will leave you feeling sluggish and unmotivated.
So, here's my motivation to you to stay active and healthy during these long winter months. Get outside and enjoy the crisp air and beautiful, snowy scenes. Bundle yourself up and you will be fine. This time of year is great for experimenting with new recipes too because you're going to be hanging around the house more. Crock-Pot is my savior and leaves my house smelling fabulous!
Stay motivated friends!
