If you spend most of your day on your feet, you might want to invest in a good pair of shoes that gives your feet the support they need. There are so many designs of shoes out there. How do you know which one will be good for you? The purpose of this post is to give you a quick guide to help you pick the best pair of shoes.

Price is not everything

More often than not, when shopping for shoes, most people’s decisions are influenced byprice. What they fail to note is the fact that some brands have overpriced shoes for no reason. Don’t buy a brand, buy the perfect shoe. The most expensive pair of shoes will not necessarily be the most comfortable for you. There are so many middle priced shoes on the market that will make you feel better and will be the right shoe for your foot type.

Deep enough heel

For added support, you need to focus on shoes that are deep enough in the heel cup. This is meant to accommodate your foot comfortably. Do not forget to take your orthotics with you when shopping for these shoes. The last thing you want is for the perfect pair not to fit and for you to have to struggle with the store’s harsh return policy.

Printed size and width are guides

There is nothing more important trying on the pair of shoe you plan on buying. This is because the width and size that are printed in the shoe are just guides to the buyers. If you wear a size 10, you might find yourself comfortable in a shoe labeled size 9. There is very little consistency in shoe sizes. This is because different shoe companies use their own sizing scales. It is good to trust your feet and try the shoe on before purchasing.

Try several pairs

There is nothing more frustrating than spending a lot of money on a pair of shoes only to realize you would have ended up with a more comfortable shoe for the same price. Don’t be in a hurry to buy a shoe once you get into a shoe store. You need to try on more than one pair so as to be sure which one you are most comfortable in. However, to avoid confusion, don’t try on more than 4 pairs.

Fit the longer foot

When fitting a shoe, make sure that you have 1/8 to ½ inch of space in front of the longest toe. The right shoe is the one that fits snugly in the arch of your foot and heel and offers adequate toe movement. However, you should ensure that the shoe is not too loose fitting else it will be uncomfortable to walk in.

Buying shoes is not something you should ever do in a rush. Take your time to identify the best brand and to test the comfort of the shoe you want to buy. Don’t be afraid to consult with the assistants in the store. They will be happy to help.
