“For in every adult there dwells the child that was, and in every child there lies the adult that will be.”

― John Connolly

So many people make quips about "adulting" and there are several hundred memes dedicated to it. But when the joke is over and the laughter has subsided, how do you know if you're "adulting" right?

I'm an indecisive person. Even after I've made a decision, I question it. Sometimes I feel like I'm doing fine, I'm becoming an adult. And other times, I just want to hide in my bed in my childhood home. Or play video games on my laptop. Being an adult is HARD and stressful. There are somethings that school doesn't even teach you that you need to learn on your own but seems like common knowledge among older adults. I suppose that's why they say "a mother's job is never done" because the child is continuously learning.

My grandmother compares me growing up to a chick flying from the nest. She says a mother is there to hold a child's hand just for a little while. I'm not ready. Sometimes I delude myself into believing I am but I'm not ready to fly the nest or let go of my grandmother's hand. I'm not ready to "adult" like. . . an adult. My teen years are behind me but I'm not yet ready to relinquish my childhood. And I don't care to hear the story of the child that refused to grow up.
