After eight years of marriage, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have amicably filed for divorce. According to TMZ, it was Pratt who filed for divorce, stating “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. However, it’s since come to light the pair filed the proceedings together.

It’s always sad when Hollywood couples we all aspire to go their separate ways. So, what caused the breakdown of their marriage?

The Couple Tried For A Long Time To Make It Work

What’s perhaps the most confusing for fans of the adorable couple, is they both still claim to love and adore one another. They appear to be very amicable, which is quite unusual. Could it be they’re putting on a front for the media? Can divorce ever be amicable?

Well, according to the stars it absolutely can. They released a joint statement claiming:

“We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”

So, publicly it does seem the pair hold no hard feelings over the separation. Their focus now is on their 5-year old son. They’re seeking joint custody and have reserved their right to receive spousal support.
As for the actual reason behind the split, there’s rumours it’s to do with a difference in opinion on parenting styles. This was actually also used in the divorce filings between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Proving Divorce Doesn’t Have To Get Nasty

While it is sad, and fans are understandably devastated, it’s refreshing to see divorce doesn’t need to get nasty. Whether that will last for Faris and Pratt, only time will tell. However, the key is communication and understanding.

Couples going through a similar situation need to remember they may both be in completely different emotional stages during the start of the divorce. So, trying to rush one partner into signing papers or coming to an agreement could actually slow down the process.

Of course, whether the divorce is amicable or not, you still need a good lawyer on your side. They’ll be able to help make the process a lot easier and more manageable. They can also help you to make the best decisions for you and your future.

So, while the news of the divorce between Pratt and Faris has come as a shock to fans, the fact they’re handling it so well definitely deserves recognition. Divorce isn’t always easy, which is why it’s important for couples to seek the best representation.
