Why I Blog

An Introduction To Me

Why I Blog

I am Melissa Rose; a 26-year-old, anxiety suffering Vancouverite and I am new to this website.

So, with that in mind, I thought that I would take a moment to tell you about why I began blogging.

Anyone who follows me on social media probably knows that I suffer severe anxiety, agoraphobia to be exact. I am not ashamed of this fact nor am I quiet about it. Although, being inside so much, I figured that I needed to establish a creative outlet where I could productively focus my thoughts. Consequently, in March 2015, my first blog, “Around the World in Books” was born.

The idea behind Around The World In Books came from my love of all things worldly. One of my passions is reading and learning about the cultures of countries outside of Canada; literature is one of the best ways to achieve this.  With that in mind, I started to read books from all around the globe and documenting my thoughts on my blog.

Since my early days, I have come remarkably far; both personally and with my blogging.

While I still have my off days; this new sense of purpose has made me a noticeably happier person.

Also, I have met a great group of friends in the blogging community. Which as a result, has helped boost my mood and confidence.

Recently, I have said that no matter where in the world I go, I will have several people to visit. From our neighbours in the States to places as far away as India, Australia, and New Zealand. It is amazing. Never in my early days of blogging would I have thought that that was possible. Thank goodness for the internet!

It has been one year since I started in the blogging world and I look forward to the years to come.

I have since closed Around The World in Books. However, I am looking forward to growing with this website and with my personal blog, The Anxious Canadian. So, I hope that you will join me in my venture into lifestyle blogging.
