As I approach middle age, I am taking stock of a life unlike any other. I feel better for wear despite surviving major depression, morbid obesity and welfare. My life was a mess of attrition and despair until the recession. As the economy crumbled, I got better, and I’m uncertain why. I think the timing was mere coincidence. In my writing, I explore my sometimes incomplete recovery from mental illness. While I am candid about this aspect of my health, I may also explore other topics, such as politics and popular culture.
