A call for Justice (Because We Can series part 1)

Dear readers,

Today my blog post will be about something very dear to my heart. Something that gives me the chills when talking about it and want me to use my all-time gift from God and that is my voice for the one whose voice have been robbed from them. I am talking about Human trafficking.

Human trafficking is a modern form of slavery. It involves controlling a person through force, fraud, or coercion to exploit the victim for forced labor, sexual exploitation, or both. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked in countries around the world. It is estimated that human trafficking generates many billions of dollars of profit per year, second only to drug trafficking as the most profitable form of transnational crime.

There are several international organizations fighting human trafficking at the global level. I will talk about the organization I partner with named A21 which stands for Abolishing Injustice in the 21st Century.

First let us see what the bible teach us about helping others in need. The bible records that, when God created humans, He created them in His image Genesis 1:26  and that every life is of great value. God LOVE us, we are  fearfully and wonderfully made and are PRICELESS Psalm 139:14 .  We should  love our neighbors Matthew 19:09 as well as love for those in need Luke 10:25-37. Further, Proverbs 31:8-9  teaches us to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and judge fairly.

The A21 Campaign:

• Prevents people from being trafficked
• Protects and supports those who have been trafficked
• Prosecutes traffickers, and strengthens legal responses to trafficking
• Partners with law enforcement, service providers and community members to provide a comprehensive front against trafficking

Walk for Freedom:  

Saturday October 15th 2016 the third annual walk for freedom is going to be held across the world. Through this walk awareness will be created for the victims of human trafficking, for the one who don’t have a voice. At the moment there are 270 walks registered and 40 unregistered walks. It is still possible for you to register. You can find on the website of A21 if there is a walk in your city http://www.a21.org/campaigns/content/walk-for-freedom-2016/gm7015 . One step at the time we can combat this injustice. Let us put our hands together and say “NO MORE”.
