Homo Sapiens are one of the most complicated mammals living on this planet. Our ideas, rules, principles are so obscure that it makes it terrible for their own inmates to live. We align all our agendas without taking into consideration if the established rules would imply to each and every member of its group. Now that many hollow assumptions and agendas are put into question so it was highly expected to raise the question of ‘coming out’ as LGBT. But hey, why should people come out as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender and not as straight? Becky Albertalli raises this pertinent question in her first novel ‘Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda’ in the best way possible.
Simon, a sixteen year old teenager is still trying to work out who he is and what he is looking for. Unfortunately, his emails, to an anonymous friend, falls into wrong hands and things get pretty complicated. His tale of understanding people around him, hiding his deepest secret and then divulging it open to the “universe” and finding the one whom he wants to- is filled with laughter, giggles, sympathy and happiness.
Believe me, this book isn’t going to disappoint you. When you’ll shut the book, you will surely do it with a smile on your face and a wholly new perspective of dealing with Homo Sapiens.
