Cannabis and fibromyalgia: how to use it to relieve pain

Cannabis and fibromyalgia: how to use it to relieve pain

Studies conducted on subjects affected by fibromyalgia and treated with alternative therapies that involve the administration of medical cannabis.

It would seem that the use of CBD: the legal cannabis in Europe (see here for more) , and therefore of the association of CBD and THC in the treatment of this pathology, would alleviate not only the painful states but also the symptoms associated with it, with a consequent improvement in the quality of sleep in 81% of cases.

According to the same research, no disease worsening would have occurred during the entire treatment period.

All patients undergoing therapy would therefore have noticed an improvement in symptoms, already after only 2 hours from taking, ascertaining a significant reduction in the characteristic rigidity: instead, the side effects, all of the modest entity, the most frequent of which were characterized mainly by drowsiness, dry mouth, tachycardia, and dizziness.

It would therefore appear that the use of medical cannabis in the treatment of patients who have fibromyalgia, where conventional therapies have not had the desired effects.

In addition to reducing pain, it would also significantly improve the quality of life.

Although legal marijuana is still far from finding the right place in the therapeutic and pharmacological field, the relative positive effects on fibromyalgia appear particularly comforting. However, further studies and research must be conducted to corroborate and confirm what seems to be a reasonable certainty until now.

How to use cannabis in the treatment of fibromyalgia

Patients who, despite themselves, have to live with disabling diseases such as fibromyalgia, among other symptoms, tend to feel pain and often experience nausea and severe headaches.

Although few studies conducted so far, and have mainly focused on the effects of cannabis and its extracts on fibromyalgia, have shown that these symptoms can be reduced precisely by taking the active ingredients.

This study examined subjects who took cannabis as an alternative to conventional drug therapies and specific chemicals.

CBD and medical cannabis can undoubtedly represent a valid option for all those patients affected by fibromyalgia because the high concentration of cannabinoids can confer considerable relief, reducing symptoms.

In particular, the active ingredients THC and CBD have for years been the subject of interest from the scientific community: the THC, proverbially psychoactive and psychotropic in fact, stimulates the cannabinoid receptors in the brain, activating a “reward system” capable of significantly reducing the perception of pain.

Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive and does not bind to cannabinoid receptors but merely balances their effects, acting, in this case, as a muscle relaxant.

Using CBD oil for treating the symptoms of fibromyalgia

Research suggests that by strengthening the endocannabinoid system by administering phytocannabinoïdes, such as CBD, known for its countless beneficial properties, it is possible to reduce the painful manifestations associated with disabling diseases such as fibromyalgia. In addition to studies on the subject, there are countless testimonies of patients who have found benefits by regularly taking CBD oil.

CBD oil can be used in different ways.

CBD oil is taken sublingually for internal use or applied topically on the painful areas where the patient with fibromyalgia perceives acute pain, massaging it carefully and in a prolonged manner. It can be taken orally or topically.

Sublingual administration, on the other hand, involves the introduction of a few drops of CBD oil under the tongue. Alternatively, CBD can also be administered as tablets based on CBD oil.

Cannabis light and medical cannabis: what does the law say?

Therefore, the therapeutic use of cannabinoids and medical cannabis in the UK is legitimate, especially in cases where conventional pharmacological therapies have not produced the desired effects.

The Government, together with the Ministry of Health, subsequently authorized the treatment, allowing this therapy to take place in the same way both in hospitals or facilities equivalent to it and in the home setting upon medical prescription to obtain the free provision of the therapeutic preparation.

We can therefore define all this as a giant step forward, destined to make legal cannabis – such as you can now legally buy on JustBob.shop—comparable to a highly effective drug with countless benefits for the body.
