Last week I came upon a detour. Unfortunately there were no signs directing us where to go, only a detour sign that pointed right, after that everyone was on their own. Luckily I knew the area so I managed to get around and back on the main road without much trouble. It was then I got to thinking, what if I was not from the area and did not know the roads. It would have been a nightmare finding my way around.
In our lives we often find ourselves on detours, often without realizing it until we are far from the intended route. If we have a good understanding of the road system we should be able to correct our course and get back on track. How do we get to place where we understand the road system of life, by reading the Bible.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Put all your hope in God, not looking to your reason for support. In all your ways give ear to him, and he will make straight your footsteps.” (BBE) When we get to know Him by reading His word He will be more than able to guide us.
