Footprints

I had the grandchildren to the beach last week.  The waves were quite big and washed quite a distance up the shore.  As the children walked on the sand they left footprints but as soon as the first wave washed over where they had walked, the footprints disappeared.

This reminds me of how our sins are seen by God.  Every sin we commit leaves a mark.  The perfectly smooth ‘sand’ of our lives is marred forever by our sins.  God then becomes as the wave.  If we ask Jesus into our lives and ask Him to forgive us our sins, God washes over them as a wave and the are gone.  They are not just covered, they are gone just as the footprints in the sand are gone forever when the wave washes over them.  The second part of 1 John 4:10 says, “he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.” (KJV)

Jesus was sent to wash away our sins, but it is up to us to accept Him as our Saviour to have this happen.
