GPS

I remember, in the old days, having to stop at a gas station and ask for directions because some one else in the car got us lost.  I didn’t get us lost, but I was the driver so I had to go ask for directions.  (At least, that’s the way I recall it.)  Years later came the road map.  I learned to keep one in the car that would cover the entire province.  That way, no matter where I was, I could find my way to any destination.  Sadly, I am still in this phase of direction finding.

Those who have advanced into the computer age of being lost now have a GPS, global positioning system.  A computer in their car will not only tell them where they are, but also the best way to get to their destination.

Spiritually, we often need directions also.  To where do we turn for that direction?  We need to turn to the Word of God.  Psalms 119:105 gives us insight into this need.  “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (KJV)  King David understood that God’s Word will illuminate our path and give us the needed direction in our daily need.  The best way is to look for direction daily, not to wait until we are lost spiritually before looking to God.
