In general terms, a mediator is a go between, one who settles differences between two people or parties. He is the one who can carry out messages and work out disputes.
I Timothy 2:5 tells us, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”, (KJV) There are three important concepts in this verse that we need to understand. First we need to know that there is only one God. He is the one who made the universe and rules over all. He is almighty, all powerful, all knowing and holy. The second truth is that there is only one mediator between us and God. There are not many roads that lead to God. This verse tells us that there is only one road, only one way to approach Him. The third truth is that the only road to God is Jesus. He is the only one who can act as a mediator, a go between when we need to approach God.
When we acknowledge these three truths we will find comfort in knowing that any problem we have can be taken to God through Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
