I recently bought a new game for my iPad. It was a mini golf game. After having it for a few weeks I began to realize it was addictive. I find myself playing a few holes and then saying one more hole and I’ll quit. After that hole I say it again. Sometimes I find I myself saying it eight or nine times before I actually decide to quit. Then I ask myself why I didn’t stop when I first said I would.
When I try to read my Bible I find the opposite happens. I decide I will read a few chapters and find that I sometimes stop after one. Bible reading needs to become more addictive than mini golf. Why can’t I read my three chapters and then say to myself just one more chapter. Then find myself saying it eight or nine times and find that I actually read ten chapters when I only intended to read two or three. In Psalms 119:11, Kind David said, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (KJV) How can we expect to hide His word in our hearts unless we continually read it?
