It is towards the end of summer that flowers begin to die.  Many can still be seen in gardens, but with the impending fall weather, we know that all too soon, the number of flowers seen in gardens will dwindle.  Even though I do like autumn and winter, I am saddened by the disappearing flowers.

Janie West Metzgar wrote a hymn titled ‘Where the Roses Never Fade’.  The chorus declares “Here they bloom but for a season, Soon their beauty is decayed; I am going to a city, Where the roses never fade.”

Take a minute to think about what that will be like; eternal flowers.  1 Corinthians 2:9 gives us an idea of just how amazing and beautiful this will be.  “What God has planned for people who love him is more than eyes have seen or ears have heard.  It has never even entered our minds!” (CEV)  No matter how much we imagine how wonderful and awe inspiring Heaven is going to be, we cannot even come close to picturing what it will really be like. Think what it may be like for a minute, and then try to imagine something a million times more beautiful and amazing.
