This is the time of the spring equinox, a time when both day and night are the same length. From now on, the days will be getting longer and the nights shorter. For most people, this is something to which we look forward. Those who like to sleep in however, may not look forward to the early sunrises that are coming with longer days.
Many people, in their spiritual lives, also live half the time in darkness, following the things of the world, and half the time in the light, following the things of God. God wants us to continually grow in Him, devoting a larger portion of our lives to His light rather than the darkness.
2 Corinthians 4:6 tells us “For God, who said ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.” (NET) We cannot live a full and contented life if we continue to try and keep our life half in darkness and half in light. We need to continually strive to make more of our life centred on the Light of God and less on the darkness of the world.
