About 16 yrs ago, I was diagnosed with slow growing cancer. It changed my life and introduced me to learning to live more of an organic/chemical free life. My home is in an urban area. In 2003, I started tearing up our lawn and replacing it with more food and native plants. The landscapes of our life inside and outside have continually been changing each year.
I write a blog about growing food in an urban area near the Mississippi River called the Quad Cities. You can find my blog here.
Since 2010, I have been helping people in my community grow healthy food outside their door. I am an advocate of tearing up your lawns, growing food and replacing some of our non-native plants in the urban landscape with pollinator-friendly plants to create biodiversity. If we all learn how to live organically in the city, we can help nature and ourselves live a healthy life together!
