Today, 15 November 2016, marks the 15th Anniversary of Halo.
Halo is a military sci-fi first person shooter game franchise created by Bungie and now managed and developed by 343 Industries, a subsidiary of Microsoft Studios. The game series revolves around a war between humans and an alliance of aliens known as the Covenant. The term “halo” refers to the Halo rings; large, habitable super-weapons that can wipe out a whole galaxy.
The games in the series have been praised to be the best first person shooter games available on a video game console.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary, developer 343 Industries is holding a livestream event. The event will take place today(15 years after Halo: Combat Evoled came out in 2001) at 3:43 p.m. PST/6:43 p.m. EST.
“During the jam-packed show we’ll have a special walkthrough of the Halo Museum, talk Halo Wars 2 with Dan Ayoub & Max Szlagor, hear about some of the team and community’s fondest Halo memories, play Halo 5 with fans, talk HCS with Tashi & Strongside, take a look at the upcoming Halo Loot crate with James, answer your tweets and whatever else we end up doing when we inevitably stray from script.” 343 Industries stated in their latest weekly blog post.
343 will also be releasing a “Anniversary Throwback” playlist for Halo 5, which includes Combat Evolved maps re-imagined in Halo 5 thanks to Forge and the community builders.
There will also be free giveaways, 343 said.
343 stated that there will be more updates available for Halo 5 which will add more maps for Warzone Firefight, new Forge canvases, an “improved spectator experience,” and the ability to join live custom games on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
