Counting books comes in all shapes and sizes but One Gorilla: A Counting Book by Anthony Browne has some of the most breathtaking images I have ever seen in a counting book.
I love that as my son and I are practicing math skills he is, also, looking at gorgeous pictures of primates. Each picture shows such expression, and the details are incredibly intricate, we often spend so much time on each page just looking at the animals and talking about them that we forget what number we are on when we turn to the next page.
The colors are vibrant and bold, but beautifully realistic, showing how we are all one family, all the same. The way that Browne shows the relationship between primates and humans is brilliant. This is a book that we love to look at, read, and of course count.
