The Moments to Live For

I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes and be careful to obey My rules. (Ezekiel 36:26b-27)

Last Thursday, the songs, “Love Never Fails” by Brandon Heath and “Come Alive” by Lauren Daigle, came onto the radio as I drove back to work from lunch. Seriously, the timing of those songs was providential.
On my drive home for lunch, I had this sudden feeling of restlessness, and I have found that it’s far too easy to grow discouraged and let joy fade away as the days melt into each other and the months turn to years. But life is more than the passing of time. My soul cannot be defined by what I did not get done today or last year, or what has not yet come to pass; all I am is Jesus Christ in me, and He is all I need; His love never fails.

I am alive, because Jesus lives in me. I am loved for no other reason than that God is good and unchanging. So, when I grow restless in the white-space where I’m living, I’ll remember that it’s in this moment God is forgiving, loving, providing, moving, and leading. These are the moments to live for, the moments when God speaks and I have the chance to say, “I am listening.”

Love is not proud. Love does not boast. Love, after all, matters the most. Love does not run. Love does not hide. Love does not keep locked inside. Love is the river that flows through. Love never fails you.
Love will sustain. Love will provide. Love will not cease at the end of time. Love will protect. Love always hopes. Love still believes when you don't. Love is the arms that are holding you. Love never fails you
When my heart won't make a sound, when I can't turn back around, when the sky is falling down, nothing is greater than this, greater than this; Love is right here, Love is alive, Love is the Way, the Truth, the Life.
Love is the river that flows through. Love is the arms that are holding you. Love is the place you will fly to. Love never fails you.

Through the eyes of men it seems there's so much we have lost as we look down the road where all the prodigals have walked. One by one, the enemy has whispered lies, and led them off as slaves. But we know that You are God; Yours is the victory. We know there is more to come that we may not yet see.
So with the faith You've given us, we'll step into the valley unafraid as we call out to dry bones; “Come alive, come alive!”
We call out to dead hearts; “Come alive, come alive!” Up out of the ashes, let us see an army rise. We call out to dry bones, “Come alive!”
God of endless mercy, God of unrelenting love, rescue every daughter, bring back the wayward son. And by Your spirit breathe upon them; show the world that You alone can save.
Amen.
