What I bought (or really what I didn't buy) at Ulta's 21 days of Beauty event

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about all of the great things Ulta was going to have on sale for their 21 days of beauty event.  I combed over the adds and the internet for the best deals and decided my plan of attack.  To start with I have 3 stores within a short drive of my house and I had a trip planned out of state that could help in picking up any loose items, and if all else failed I could order off of the internet.  I had done so in the past with ease and was feeling really confident about my new purchases before they were even in my cart.

I’d love to say this was a happy story, with a whole bunch of pics of the things I bought at a great price.  I’d insert video of me frolicking through the store like one of the kids from Charlie and the Chocolate factory in the candy room.  But alas it was not meant to be, want to see what I bought?  Here it is:

I’m not sure what happened, perhaps it was poor planning on my part, I waited to buy things until what I wanted was on sale - silly me.  I started out in the store by my house, making sure the items I wanted were there - they were not, then I moved on to the one by my office, nothing there, then I proceeded to place my order online.  Only to find out what I wanted was out of stock, my last resort, heading up to Reno for the hubby’s birthday weekend, I bribed him with a trip to Starbucks knowing Ulta was just a few stores away.  And guess what? None of the big items I wanted were there either. What was I looking for?  Nothing really big - just a regular size of the maracuja oil from Tarte, really anything from Tarte - it was like they had a run on the bank or something.

Quite honestly I didn’t even see the NYX palette anywhere close to my house, I ended up swatching the palette and lippies and deciding what to buy in Reno, only because it was the first place I actually saw it. Now don’t get me wrong I’ve tried to buy the same things from Sephora recently also to no avail so I’m not sure if it’s just a shortage of my favorite makeup in general or just a plot against me, but for argument's sake, I’m going to go with the former.  Needless to say after all the hype I created in my mind about this sale and all the awesome things I was going to pick up.  I spent a total of $18 for an eye palette, a lippie, and a few makeup puffs.
