Layla had to choose her words carefully so she wouldn’t offend him. “I was merely caught off guard with this engagement. Yesterday was my first day back at home. Plus, I always imagined that I would see the guy propose first and-”
“Fall in love with him…. Or that he wasn’t your enemy….” He took the words out of her mouth. She didn’t even know how to respond to him. “I know it's hard to imagine marrying the man your parents always told you to stay away from. But I want you to know that I don’t want you to marry me because your parents told you to, or the royal official… It's because you want to do it.”
Layla was shocked that those words came out of him. She always imagined that Groff was some arrogant or mean person. But he’s just a victim of being a royal like her.
“I’ll only be in Dortchtown for another day. I would like to keep talking to you when I go back to France. I believe that every woman especially a princess should make their own decisions…”
Day 2 and I have to make my first decision… Do I be so closed minded and tell Groff no? Or do I give this arrangement a chance? Before he walked away, she stopped him. “Wait! It's always fun to have pin pal…”
