Make The Best Decisions Regarding The Jewellery World

Every woman dreams of having that perfect Engagement Ring, a beautiful necklace, or a great set of earrings. However, picking the right kind can be confusing especially when you step into a jewelry store and are pressured to make big purchases that may not always be in your best interest. This article provides some great pointers for buying jewelry.

Save some of your most delicate jewelry for special occasions only. Some fragile stones like opal and peridot should only be worn for special events and then carefully stored until the next opportunity. This may seem irritating since you want to be able to wear your best pieces, but it can prolong their life if you avoid exposing them to harm too often.

Keep your delicate stone jewelry stored in separate boxes, away from your other pieces, to prolong the life of these stones. You don't want them getting scuffed or broken, by being in direct contact with stronger and harder jewelry pieces. Try wrapping these fragile stones in velvet or silk, before placing them in the boxes. It's best if you keep the boxes that they originally came in, for this purpose.

Essential to anyone buying jewelry for reclamation purposes is a pocket-sized gram and carat scale. While a range can't determine the purity of the gold and silver you encounter in your jewelry hunting; a pocket scale can at least give you a primary starting point to determine fair pricing and valuing of your jewelry finds.

Use a toothbrush and small bit of toothpaste to clean your precious gems. This works well on diamonds. The toothpaste is a non-abrasive scrubber, and the toothbrush is small enough to get into those little nooks and crannies. This method is safe to use as often as you like.

If you're trying to buy a diamond on a budget, look for one that has slight inclusions and is a less than perfect color of white. Often, you cannot even see the additions and "off" glow with the naked eye, but it can save you hundreds or thousands on the price of the stone.

If you are not too fond of wearing a wedding ring on your finger, you can always put it on a chain. This is a safe way to ensure your bracelet will not fall off. Also, by putting your ring on a string, it will not be in the form of your daily activities.

If you're making wire jewelry and don't have wire cutters, use a pair of fingernail clippers. The fingernail clippers are small and great for excellent cutting. They will be able to manipulate through the most sterling silver wire with ease. The fingernail clippers will no longer be used for your nails though because the wire will dull them fast.

As you can see, finding that perfect piece of jewelry is not impossible. It just takes time, patience, and knowledge of what you are looking for. Now that you know more about shopping for and selecting the right kind of jewelry, you will make significant purchases at the jewelry store instead of just listening to the salesperson!
