Dr. Susanna Wu-Pong Calvert, RPh, MAPP, PhD is formerly Associate Professor and Director of VCU BEST, a student career, professional and personal development program. She was a faculty member at VCU School of Pharmacy for 23 years, after receiving her BS degree in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin, PhD from University of California at San Francisco, postdoctoral training in metabolism and dermatology also at UCSF. She is a 2014 graduate of the Masters in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. She has almost 100 scientific papers, books, chapters, abstracts, and invited talks, including a chapter on authentic purpose in Being Called: Scientific, Secular and Sacred Perspectives. Susanna will be Director of Programming at the University of Georgia Office of Faculty Affairs starting August 2016. Her dream is to create a positive university at UGA!
In addition, Dr. Wu-Pong is a 2005 graduate of the Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute, former Program Coordinator for VCU Leadership (GEHLI), and fellow of the 2011 AACP Academic Fellow Leadership Program. In 2014, she completed her Masters of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) from the University of Pennsylvania. She is certified in Clifton StrengthsFinders, Arbinger Institute (positive relationships), Conflict Dynamic Profile, Change Style Indicator, and is a trained life coach. Susanna is the author of the long-running Silver Lining blog (www.findingpositiveperspective.wordpress.com).
Susanna’s mission is to spark positive ripples through active love, connection and acceptance via education, training, coaching, and planning. She founded a graduate level course that uses principles of positive psychology to help students across campus and the country make a deep, meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. Her dream is to create a positive university, where students, faculty and staff elicit their best selves to create a better world.
