It might seem like a while since the 2017 South African Budget Speech took place. Not much was expected from the budget itself as the State of the Nation Address (SONA) had stolen the limelight a week earlier. Much was said about current finance minister Pravin Gordhan’s stance as Finance minister and whether a cabinet shuffle would be on the cards in the forthcoming weeks.
As the budget drew near, all ears were on Minister Pravin’s budget speech, with a sense of uncertainty on what new policies he would present to the nation and the world.
