Stay Fit outside the Gym: Our Ideas

Everyone wants a great body but no one really wants to do anything about it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work this way. So we find money and go buy a gym membership. However, only about half of the gym members attend it on a regular basis.

We often find all kinds of excuses to avoid going to the gym. Be it bad weather, bad mood, too much work or a headache, people love clinging to any chance to bail out. So since buying a gym membership doesn’t help, what does? We decided to come up with a few ways to stay fit outside the gym.

1. Walk or Cycle to Work

How much do you enjoy your commute to work? If it’s filled with traffic, you probably hate it. Consider walking or using your bicycle to go to and from work at least when the weather is warm and sunny. You’ll be amazed at how much more fun the commute becomes. Meanwhile, you can burn calories, get a big dose of Vitamin D, and get to work in an excellent mood.

As a bonus, you save money on gas and reduce the carbon footprint on our planet. Need more reasons? You get awesome leg muscles.

2. Play Golf

Golf may seem like a leisurely game, but in reality, it has numerous health benefits. From improving your cardiovascular health to burning calories, golf is far from being the game of the old. How many professional golfers have you seen? Even if it’s just Tiger Woods, his muscular body should motivate you.

Playing golf is an excellent way to spend your weekends. It’s much more fun than pumping weights at the gym. Just don’t forget to get comfortable golf shoes to feel good throughout the game. The more time you spend on the field, the more calories you’ll burn.

3. Find a Goal

Training just to stay healthy may seem like a boring goal to some people. Especially when you feel fine anyway. Setting a goal can help you train outside the gym without coming up with sorry excuses. It can be a triathlon or a charity run. If you spend a little time researching the matter, you can find many different ways to win a prize if you train.

The best part about training for something special is the rewarding feeling you experience afterward. You can also give yourself a week or so to relax and eat as much as you want before you set a new goal.

4. Watch Your Diet

Training is great for your body. But if you want to lose weight, it will never happen until you start watching what you eat. Even an hour of cardio exercises every day don’t allow you to eat a greasy hamburger with French fries for lunch.

The best way to watch what you eat is to count calories. It’s as simple as one-two-three. If you use up more calories during the day than you consume, you’ll lose weight. If you eat more than you use, you gain weight.

Counting calories is easy. You can get yourself a calorie-counting app for a start. After a while, you’ll be counting them on your own.

5. Get a Fitness Hobby

Working out in a gym may seem boring. So take up something that you can have fun with. It could be dancing lessons, rollerblading, figure skating, fencing, yoga, and much more. Group workouts are usually much more fun.

Their biggest advantage is the competitive element, which makes many people try harder. Find something that works for you and can work out with pleasure.
