Simple Tips for Moisturized Skin

Simple Tips for Moisturized Skin

Autumn is almost here and I.Am.Ready! So much awesomeness happens during this time of year. The color of leaves are changing, lower humidity and cooler temperatures (depending on where you live of course), the convenience of throwing on a pair of Uggs to run errands and the best fashion of the year will be in full effect! Unfortunately, along with all of this greatness comes drier, dehydrated skin, but not to worry! You can totally avoid alligator skin with these few, helpful tips:

1Increase Water Intake
For me, drinking water is a struggle and in the cooler months, forget it! I'd rather have coffee and hot chocolate and tea. Also, I don't feel dehydrated because I'm not sweating so as a result, less water. However, drinking water is just as important in the fall and winter as it is in the summer. Our body needs it and our skin benefits from it. So drink up!

2. Invest in a Quality Moisturizer
There are a plethora of moisturizers on the market. The ones I find work best are those with natural ingredients vs. ones with fillers such as mineral oil and petrolatum. Make sure that your moisturizer is water based (first ingredient). This will ensure that the moisturizer penetrates the skin instead of sitting on top. Another thing to look for in a great moisturizer are quality oils and natural butters such as coconut oil, sunflower seed oil and shea butter.

3. Exfoliate
Dry skin can look dull and cracked and can even make you feel unattractive. Regular, gentle exfoliation greatly benefits the texture and appearance of skin. This practice also boosts the effectiveness of your moisturizer. I personally exfoliate twice a week. If your skin is sensitive, you can do it less. It's important that you choose an exfoliant that is formulated for the way you intend to use it. For example, a body scrub shouldn't be used on the face. Again, natural ingredients are the best.

There you have it. An added bonus is, with proper care and maintenance, less work will be required in the spring. If you would like suggestions for products that will keep your skin looking and feeling beautiful, I recommend LimeLight by Alcone's natural skincare. Forty Cure Cream, Cream of the Crop and Bamboo Renew are a few of my favorites. If you suffer from skin ailments such as eczema, One Drop Wonder is a perfect choice. Click here for details.
