Hello there,

I bring to you my review on Amy Tintera’s Ruined. I first found out about this book when I watched Epic Reads  Explains Ruined video. After I watched this video I knew I had to get this book ASAP because it sounded so good. Some time after I watched another Epic Reads video where Margot was talking about Ruined and said that it was amazing. This added even more fuel to the fire of me wanting to read this book. I eventually borrowed it from the library but I was reading another book. Then I kept seeing Ruined from the corner of my eye and it kept saying “read me, read me.” Im like “no Ruined I will read you once I'm done with this book.” Let me tell you guys…Ruined won I gave in and stopped reading the book I was already reading and started Ruined. And oh boy was I glad I did, I read Ruined in two days! Which is really fast for me because I am a slow reader. Guys, I absolutely loved the book, it started with action and ended with action. Now I will get into further detail on my thoughts of Ruined.

So, you may ask what is this book about? Well let me tell you, Ruined is about a girl named Emelina Flores who is seeking revenge on those that ruined her country and took her family away from her. The best way to get her revenge is to take them down from within. The way she does this is by pretending she is the betrothed of Prince Casimir of Lera. By getting inside the palace of Lera she will be able to get the information she needs to find her sister Olivia and bring a war to Lera. It was a well thought out plan, the only thing that Em did not plan on was getting close to the prince. That is when the situation starts to get even more complicated.

Like I said before I really enjoyed this book it was packed with action and I was not able to put the book down. Even when it was 3:00AM and I had a headache I just couldn't put the book down because I had to know what happened next. I really enjoyed that the story was fast passed and it really kept my attention all 355 pages.  Also it wasn't predictable of what was going to happen next. I remember reading one scene and thinking “no thats not going to happen, everything will be fine they will find a way around this situation.” Boy was I wrong, in that situation the characters were not able to find a way to help. I really liked that I was not able to guess ahead of time what will happen.

The one thing I have heard that bothers people about Ruined is the insta love. Personally I don't mind the whole insta love situation. So if that is something that you don't personally  like you have been warned. Also most of the book is about the action so the love element is not that in your face. I also really found it interesting that most of the characters names were Spanish names. I thought that was something interesting and new.

I gave Ruined five stars on GoodReads. I really wasn't anything that really bothered me about the book. I really enjoyed it and I cant wait for book two to be released. Ruined is described as a cross between Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard and The Selection by Kiera Cass, so if you liked either of those you will love Ruined. Let me know in the comments if you have read Ruined and your thoughts on it.

Until next time book nerds,

Yari
