This Is Why You Shouldn't Take Cenforce 100 While You're On Nitrates

You may have heard that you shouldn’t take Cenforce 100 or any other ED pills while you’re on nitrates, but do you know why? If not, this blog is for you.

So, does Cenforce 100 and nitrates work well together? The short answer is “No”, and so you should avoid taking them together at all costs.

Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Cenforce 100, is a generally safe and effective medication for treating erectile dysfunction in men. Most of its side effects, including headache, dizziness, nasal congestion, diarrhea, muscle cramps, etc., are mild and do not cause any severe health issues or discomfort. In cases where these side effects persist or aggravate with time, it is advised to rush to a nearby healthcare center without delay.

However, when Cenforce 100mg is taken with any nitrate-containing medications, it can lead to potentially serious side effects. Keep reading and get to know how these interactions occur and why mixing these medications can be a potential risk to your overall health and wellbeing.

How Cenforce 100 Affects Your Blood Pressure Levels?

Sildenafil, the active ingredient of Cenforce 100, belongs to a group of medicines called PDE-5 inhibitors. It works by suppressing the action of the PDE-5 enzyme that’s accountable for controlling the blood flow to the soft erectile tissue of your penis. This is what makes it easier to achieve an erection and stay hard during sexual intercourse.

As a part of this process, Cenforce 100mg affects the muscle tissue that regulates the diameter of your blood vessels. When you take Cenforce, your blood vessels dilate, which improves blood flow not only to the erectile tissue of your penis but also to other parts of your body. This dilation of blood vessels affects your blood pressure. When you take Cenforce 100 alone, your blood pressure reduces by a small amount. On average,  it tends to decrease by 8.4/5.5 mmHg soon after taking a dose of Cenforce 100mg.

A similar effect is observed when men take any other ED medications such as tadalafil (Cialis) or Vardenafil (Levitra). Other sildenafil-containing drugs, such as Revatio, also cause a decrease in blood pressure.

On its own, this decrease in blood pressure levels isn’t something to worry about. If you’re a normal, healthy individual without any cardiovascular disease, the slight decrease in blood pressure resulting from  Cenforce 100mg is unlikely to affect your general health and wellbeing.

However, if you take cenforce 100 or any other ED pill in combination with nitrates, it can trigger a more serious drop in your blood pressure levels. This could potentially lead to loss of consciousness or worse or even cardiac arrest.

How Cenforce 100 and Nitrates Interact?

PDE-5 inhibitors such as Cenforce 100mg and nitrates both have similar effects on the diameter of your blood vessels in various parts of the body. So, when used together, the interactions between these medications can cause your blood pressure to drop, impacting your consciousness and heart health.

This may trigger a heart attack, especially if you use nitrates to treat chest pain (angina) or other heart diseases that require a specific minimum blood pressure level.

Widely used medications that can interact with Cenforce or other ED pills include nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate, erythrityl tetranitrate, sodium nitroprusside, pentaerythritol tetranitrate, and amyl nitrate. These medicines are predominantly used to treat systemic hypertension.

Most of these medications are sold under specific brand names rather than generic names. Please read labels carefully to determine if it contains any active ingredients that could interact with your ED medication.

Other cardiovascular medications, including alpha-blockers, riociguat, and other drugs used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), also have the potential to interact with ED pills to cause low blood pressure (hypotension).

Recreational drugs containing nitrates, including amyl nitrate and butyl nitrate, can also interact with Cenforce 100. These drugs are not safe to be used with your ED pills and hence must be avoided.

How To Treat Erectile Dysfunction If You’re On Nitrates?

If you use nitrates for hypertension, heart disease, or any other conditions and still want to use ED medications, talk to your doctor. Take them together only if it’s safe for you and if the benefits outweigh the risks for you.

Currently, none of the medications used to treat erectile dysfunction are considered safe to use at the same time as nitrates. This implies that your healthcare provider will likely not recommend a medication like Cenforce to treat your ED if you’re already using nitrates.

Fortunately, there are several options today for improving male sexual performance beyond medication. Eating a healthy, well-balanced diet, exercising regularly, and quitting unhealthy habits such as smoking and consuming excessive alcohol - all can help protect your erection and boost your sexual performance.

Other strategies include limiting your porn consumption (which is closely attributed to erectile dysfunction in some men) and addressing some of the root causes of ED, such as low testosterone levels.

It's also possible that you could benefit from other ED treatments such as psychotherapy. You may also use injectable medications such as Alprostadil, but only if your doctor prescribes it.

The Bottom Line: Cenforce 100 and Nitrates Don’t Mix

It is not safe to use ED pills, including Cenforce, if you are using nitrates for high blood pressure or angina. When used together, these medications can cause a serious, potentially life-threatening drop in your blood pressure.

If you have high blood pressure (hypertension), angina, or any other cardiovascular disease and you want to treat your erectile dysfunction or improve your sexual performance, talk to your healthcare provider. They will be able to recommend an effective ED treatment that is safe for your heart too.
