Rainbow Pride: Purple

Rainbow Pride: Purple

Hello my lovelies!

PurpleRainbowFace

Today's chosen rainbow color contribution is purple, a personal favorite. I did stick with a nude lip, since I don't own any cool toned purple lipsticks, but I think they idea of the series still shines through.

Today, I used the Kat von D Innerstellar palette, something I have reviewed and praised in the past. However, I need to make one small correction in my review. All of the shadows are pretty pigmented and look beautiful, EXCEPT for the dark purple I used in this look. I understand that purples are much harder to make, but this dark purple was incredibly patchy and did not blend as well as the other two purples in the palette. Maybe it's because it's darker, but the inconsistency does bother me slightly. Regardless, I still think this look turned out well, because my new Milani Palette came in and saved the day! Remember that piece of crap foiled one I hated hard on? Well, this vital brights one I recently received is actually pretty fantastic so far, and a great, inexpensive way to incorporate more color into my looks.

Let's get started:

The Eyelids:

  1. Prime and set the lids with a bone color or skin toned shadow of your choosing.
  2. Blend shadow one through the entire crease, blowing out slightly onto the brow bone. This is our transition shade to help blend out the purples.
  3. Place shadow two into the deepest part of the crease, and blend halfway in toward the inner corner.
  4. Pack shadow three all over the lid. Blend out any harsh edges with a fluffy blending brush.

The Lashline:

  1. Smoke shadow one across the entire lower lashline. I dragged this shade pretty low in order to help with the purples blending out, and to create a more smokey look.
  2. Blend shadow two from the outer corner, halfway inward, just like the top. connect the shadow to the lid.
  3. Pack shadow three onto the inner half of the lashline. Do not use a heavy hand with this shade, because we want to create a slight ombre effect.
  4. Place shadow four onto the tear duct for an added highlight. If you like a brow bone highlight, this would also look really cool there.

Other:

  1. Line the waterline with a black liner. If this gets messy, feel free to blend this onto the lashline for more intensity.
  2. *Optional* If you want a more intense look, you can always take the black shadow and pack it onto the outer corner.
  3. Curl and coat your lashes with mascara, apply falsies if you'd like.

That's all I have for you guys today, please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don't forget to have a lovely Thursday. I'll be back tomorrow with another color for this series.

Stay beautiful!
